Studs Terkel Online

Studs Terkel: Conversations with America has several interviews available online from Studs' WFMT program.

Studs Terkel and CHM

Studs Terkel was the first Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence at the Chicago History Museum.

The Museum has the collection "Studs Terkel papers and book interviews, ca. 1950-1999," which can be requested through the Research Center.

Studs Terkel Recordings

Since June 2010, access to the Museum’s collection of Studs Terkel audio recordings has been extremely restricted due to a multi-year collaboration with the Library of Congress to digitize these materials.  Listening copies of individual Studs Terkel audio recordings currently exist for a portion of the museum’s holdings and may be available for use by researchers while the digitization project is underway. Read more about this project.  A sample of the digitized interviews is now available here .

Finding Listening Copies in the Research Center

To find listening copies of Studs Terkel recordings, search the catalog for terkel listening cd. In almost all instances, this retrieves listening cds only. Use a pink callslip and give us the call number that begins with T in the catalog record
